Paul George has no illusions about exactly who he is as a basketball player. That’s actually a somewhat rare thing in the league, and it makes sense that it would be. You have to be really damn good to make it to the NBA, and you also have to have an absolute ton of confidence in yourself. To get all the way there — and to be one of the very small handful of best players in the sport — but still recognize that you are perhaps not best suited to be the top guy on your own team, is to show a very high level of self-awareness. And George has it.
