I can’t remember who it was, but someone had a tweet a week or so ago that said something alone the lines of, the NBA has research that shows that the things fans like the most are (in order) dunks, fast breaks, some third thing I don’t remember, and then threes.
The point was being made in support of the idea that teams shoot too many threes, because apparently nobody is allowed to talk about anything else these days. But then, when I was watching Hornets-Pacers the other night, Hornets announcer Eric Collins noted after a Myles Turner dunk in the third quarter that it was the first dunk of the entire game! That seemed wild to me.
So that got me thinking: Are dunks really down?
