Film Findings Ep. 11: Is R.J. Barrett a different player in Toronto?
Or is he just in one of his hot shooting stretches?
R.J. Barrett is seemingly surging since heading back home to Toronto as part the OG Anunoby trade. There are a lot of theories as to why. Do any of them hold up? Is Barrett playing differently — or being used differently — with the Raptors than he was with the Knicks?
Let’s dig into the film.
Good piece, Jared. Toronto would love to get out in transition more, but they just aren't capable of doing it. I still think Quickley is going to eventually tilt the trade in their favor.
He does look more confident. And that generally translates to hitting shots. Of course, that is a totally subjective take on both ends. He also looks happier in that there doesn’t appear to be a total pecking order like in NY.
I have never really liked his game, but there does to be something different now as a result of the fluidity of the Raptor offense versus the Knicks. But as you point out, that may be more illusion and projection than reality.
