Handicapping the three-team seeding battles with three weeks left to play
In each conference, there are two different packs of three teams battling it out for playoff seeding that could end up being very important.
In the East, we have the race for the 3-4-5 seeds between the Cavaliers, Knicks, and Magic, who are separated in the standings by a total of 1.5 games; and the race for the 6-7-8 seeds between the Pacers, Heat, and 76ers, who are all jumbled within just 1.5 games of each other.
In the West, the Nuggets, Thunder, and Timberwolves are fighting for the 1-2-3 spots and separated by just 1.5 games; while the Suns, Kings, and Mavericks are separated by a mere half-game in the battle for the 6-7-8 seeds.
I thought this was a good time to take a look through some of the various projection systems out there and try to handicap each of those races.
