Moreyball Rate

These rates give you an idea of which teams are winning and losing the math battle with their shot selection — and shot prevention – on a nightly basis.

Off Morey % is the share of a team’s shots that come either within 3 feet of the basket or behind the three-point arc. Def Morey % is the same thing, but for their opponents. Morey +/- is the difference between a team’s Off Morey % and its Def Morey %, with a higher number representing a greater math advantage.
